For common shareholders, their free trading stock allows them to access capital in a private transaction without having to sell their securities to market.
With a non-recourse stock loan, they get liquidity from their asset now, retain contractual ownership, enjoy the tax benefits that come from not having to sell their securities and profit from appreciation of their assets should the stock price rise in value when the loan matures...... after principle and interest are paid.
With this form of non-recourse financing, the shareholder can enjoy the freedom of walking away from their loan with no further obligation should the share price decrease in value. The flexible exit strategy permits the shareholder the ability to either an early pay off of the loan and a regain of their securities, walk away from interest payments or repayment entirely and forfeit only the collateralized securities... even if the stock price has declined.
